My Mom's (both real and step) live far away but that doesn't mean I can't celebrate Mother's Day! The weekend was absolutely gorgeous and I have quite the uneven tan lines to prove it. Friday was great because the weather was nice and I was able to sit outside and have dinner with a friend for his birthday and then we went to see "Defending the Caveman" which was hilarious. If you ever get the chance to see it, I highly recommend it. And of course, I baked him some treats for his birthday. I made mini carrot cakes and a giant cookie cake, all from Chocolate Covered Katie. Since they are vegan, I'm a little nervous about how he will respond to them, considering they probably taste different from what he is used to but he said he is going to save them for his lunch this week so I guess I will find out the verdict later tonight.
Saturday I spent the day running errands and I sat out in the sun and read the second installment of "The Hunger Games." I probably sat out a bit longer than I should have but the book was getting really good and I didn't want to stop. I even managed to sneak in a pedicure down on Main Street.
Saturday night I spent with some girlfriends having a couple drinks in our dining room and playing the game "Say Anything" and Sunday was just as beautiful. I went for a 5.5 mile run and then scooted on over to my Sunday morning yoga class. We had a substitute since it was Mother's Day and I contemplated skipping it all together but I stayed and I'm glad I did since it beat sitting at home on my behind.
After yoga I snuck in some more time in the sun while I ate lunch and went down to Main Street for some frozen yogurt with a friend. That's where we saw the cute sign above us outside of a bakery. My friend took a picture of me with it and I sent it to my mom but I will save you all the pain of looking at my post work out appearance.
You are probably all wondering what I did for my moms for Mother's Day. Well, I sent Mom #1 some truffles with cute little sayings on them and I baked cookies for my step-mom (Mom #2). Since Mom #2 lives in the middle of no where, there was very little to select from in terms of flower deliveries so on a whim I decided to make some healthy versions of cookies since she is on the South Beach Diet with my dad. I thought they were delicious but she probably won't get them until today so again I will have to wait for the verdict. What did you all do for Mother's Day? Whatever it was, I hope it was a good one!
